Workouts To Do From Home

Image
Here's two workouts you can do at home with no equipment except two cans of soup.  My daughter made this first video to get other kids more active.  It's fun, easy and anyone can do it.  Myself and my friend Chris also made a version for adults.  *Note If you have read through any of these posts and find this helpful or inspiring tips are welcome via E-Transfer at Murphyd@gmail.com - Thank You

We also have some stories posted on our slow growing YouTube channel. How Boxing Changed My Life

Image
My name is Dave Murphy I'm 47 years old and I live in Claresholm, Alberta however I grew up in many small towns in Newfoundland (Canada) I would to share my boxing story with you and how it has saved my life and what Southpaw Boxing club did for me and my family.   I was raised in a very loving family by two amazing parents who were Salvation Army officers, along with my brother and sister we were fortunate to be around giving our entire lives.  We did however move every 2-4 years as they were stationed in different cities all across the province.  In 1992 my father received the call that he was being transferred to Ottawa and this city was where my life changed forever. In April 1994 I was outside of Bayshore Shopping Mall and got in to a heated argument with three guys (It’s been so long I don’t remember the cause or what started it) I remember one of the guys coming at me to punch me so I attempted to defend myself.  I remember the three of them swarming ar...

25 years of paying it forward - This is my story

Image
My name is Dave Murphy and this is my story.   I was born in Grand Falls, Newfoundland in 1975 and lived all over the province.  My parents were Salvation Army officers, so we moved a lot and I grew up around giving and charity.  A few years I volunteered with the “Happy Tree” with the Salvation Army and got to play Santa Claus to families in need.  In 1994 while outside Bayshore Mall in Ottawa, Ontario I was involved in a altercation with three guys and all I remember from that night is trying to defend myself from them and having one guy in a headlock.   I remember hearing “Oh Shit lets go” I started to walk away and then felt this horrible pain in my upper left leg.  I put my hand down and when I looked at my hand it looked like something out of a scene in Dexter.  I fell to the ground and remember a crowd of people looking at me.  There was a older woman holding my hand and she ended up getting in the ambul...

Losing For A Purpose - My Biggest Tip

Image
When I first set out on my mission to lose 100lbs I logged in to Twitter & Facebook and posted the following:  "I"m going to lose 100lbs this year and I'm going to donate $1 a pound to my favorite charity" Posting this kept me accountable and motivated.  When there were days I didn't want to go workout I would think about the Veterans and First Responders this charity helps and it would light my fire.  I would think to myself "I can't let them down" When I hit my goal eight people matched me and turned my $100 donation into $1500 then someone saw that and matched us all upping the donation to $3000. My challenge to you is to post the same and challange your friends and family to match you.  Not only will you be helping yourself but you will be helping a charity that you love. My charity of choice is CAN PRAXIS.  A equine therapy program that helps First Responders and Veterans with PTSD.  The thing I love about them is they include their family...

How I lost over 100lbs - Part Two - Food & Diet

Image
I don't have a magic diet, fancy drinks, surgery or any of that I just made small changes and continue to do so today and it has worked for me.  First of all I used to eat so bad it's a wonder Im not dead I used to work across the street from a Mcdonalds and A&W for three years and I would hate to see how much I spent there.  I used to drink 4 litres of pepsi a day.  When I went out to the pubs for those multiple nights a week I'd jam myself full of wings, burgers and you name it,  Today :  I start my day with a bowl of cereal  Between breakfast and lunch I eat a piece of fruit Lunch is usually a sandwhich or lots of protein Dinner I eat mostly chicken, fish, steak and pork which hasn't changed.  The small change is I eat ONE plate instead of two.  I eat twice as many vegatables and I cut the potato or pasta in half. Water : I drink 1.5 - 2litres of water every day and cut the diet pepsi I have one coffee a day with sugar twin instead o...

How I lost over 100lbs - Part 1 - It's all in your head

Image
Before you start anything or set out to lose weight you have to have a healthy mind.  I started and failed many times from 2000 to 2017 because my head wasn't in the right place.  In 1994 I was involved in a altercation in Ottawa, Ontario and was stabbed thirteen times.   This incident resulted in severe PTSD which I hid from my friends and family for years.   I used to go to the bar five to six nights a week and I wouldn't have one or two drinks I was drinking by the picher to escape anxiety and panic attacks. For those few hours every night I don't remember all my worries were gone until I woke up the next day.  A close friend of mine sat me down one night at 01:45 after last call with a giant pot of coffee and two mugs and looked me straight in the eye and said "IF you don't smarten the f*** up  you're not going to see age 50" I don't drink to escape anymore and I have probably had six beer in the last year and they're for enjoyment....
